Our program

Planets, Stars and the universe

What is a Planet?
What is a Star?
What is the Universe?

We commence this exciting presentation by understanding what a Planet, a Star and the Universe is. And of course which Planet is the most important to humans. We used to think that the Earth, Sun and Moon were just ordinary and commonplace in the universe. Today we know that they are unique in many ways. In fact, there are more than 20 parameters that have to be right for a planet to support life.  The probability of even one planet, in the Universe, meeting these conditions has been calculated to be pretty much zero. YET HERE WE ARE!!

We explore how other planets and solar bodies affect Earth and live as we know it, for example Jupiter protects the Earth from asteroids, most planets have an influence on the seasons on Earth, as long as they stay on their established paths in the Solar System….. We discuss the solar bodies we can see every day and take for granted how important they are to each person, plant as well as the Oceans i.e the Sun and the Moon. Thanks to the Sun the Earth is not one big block of ice and we have food. But will the Sun burn out one day? “Who” or “what” is responsible for the waves in our oceans…. Is this solar body a Planet….

Also, what is the Milky way(s) and the Galaxy(ies)? AND how does it all fit together? The stars that shine so bright in the night skies can guide us on our way and assist to determine direction. We explore why they shine so bright, how Stars are formed, do they exist for ever also, are there more than one Milky way? This leads to the next interesting questions – does the Galaxy and the Universe consist of only stars? Are the Galaxy and the Solar System the same thing? Does anyone know how many Planets there are in the Universe?? OH, and what “on earth” is a light year?

Thanks to Galileo Galilei humans can observe and study the skies. Having said that, did he discover the telescope? He is regarded as the “father of science” by Albert Einstein and others. He proposed heliocentrism and was sentenced to life in house arrest for this and found guilty of “vehemently suspected of heresay”. What if scientists never accepted his studies?? What is SALT?

Why are there so many satellites orbiting the Earth and what happens to “Space Waste”?

Can I visit the ISS and what is it’s purpose?

During our animated and spontaneous Planets, Stars and the Universe Presentation we answer these and many other questions. We share a variety of extremely interesting facts on an age appropriate level regarding Planets, Stars and the Universe and how wonderfully it naturally complements each other in a very specific way and doesn’t just co-exist.

Children will explore most importantly how much WE ALL need each Planet and Star in the skies, even though we cannot see most of these. We enhance this by exploring how Earth fits into our Solar System, Galaxy and Universe and have huge fun with many fun facts around Planets e.g., which is more important, is Jupiter the biggest Planet, which Planet’s temperature varies from over 400 Degrees Celsius to 180 Degrees Celsius in ONE DAY, which Planet is the closest and which the furthers from the Earth and of course, could we move to another Planet, Solar System or even Galaxy if Earth becomes inhabitable?

Enrich your child's life today.
