4 Fabulous Seasons

SPRING  SUMMER  AUTUMN  WINTER

Which season is your favourite and why?

Which Season is actually “first” – maybe Summer because our calendar year stars while it is Summer? What about the Northern Hemisphere? Does it matter, to the Earth, OR to us?? Why does the Northern and Southern Hemisphere have opposite seasons?

We so often say – “Ooh, I don’t like Winter and wish it would just disappear” – SO WHAT IF……

We commence this age appropriate presentation of this most imperative subject by understanding what is a Season, identifying them and why there are 4 Seasons in a year.

Children will explore most importantly how much WE ALL need each season and amongst others:

  • When does each Season start and end in South Africa
  • Why does everything around us change with the Seasons?
  • Some trees lose their leaves for very important reasons and us continuously sweeping it away and destroying the leaves might have a serious influence on the survival of many species
  • The abundance and breath taking beauty of each Season
  • What is a “Shoulder Season”?
  • How do humans influence our seasons e.g. pollution? Although we all have an awareness of Global Warming having some influence on the Seasons on Earth, do we ensure that our Children are made aware of how they can positively contribute in slowing down or even alleviating Global warming, thus saving many, many species, including Humans?!

We expand on this by exploring how a Season “divides” the year, marked by changes in weather, ecology and hours of daylight. Seasons result from the yearly orbit of the Earth around the Sun and the tilt of the Earth’s rotational axis relative to the plane of the orbit.

This is because during Summer or Winter, one part of the planet is more directly exposed to the rays of the Sun. Is Summer then so hot because South Africa is then closer to the Sun??

In a fun way we attempt to name and identify as many fruit and vegetables we can enjoy during each Season and which dishes are “traditionally” eaten during each Season e.g. soup in Winter and LOTS of Ice Cream during Summer.

Each Season even determine what we ware and our social lives as we certainly miss swimming in Winter and do not light the fire in the fireplace during December!!

Seasons are so important that Humans even play specific sports associated with Seasons e.g. Cricket during Summer and Soccer during Winter.  It is evident that Seasons do not only have an influence on the Plants and Animals but also Human behaviour   – SO – What will happen should we only have a single Season on Earth? What food will we have to do without and how will that impact on our lives and survival as Humans? What would the Earth look like with just a single Season like e.g Summer? – Papua New Guinea having Summer 365 days of the year!

During our animated and spontaneous 4 FABOULAS Seasons Presentation we endeavour to share the most inclusive variety of fun facts regarding the importance of each and every aspect of each Season and why each animal, plant, each drop of rain or snow flake help us to survive and that ALL 4 FABOULAS SEASONS ARE HUGE FUN AND SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO!!

Enrich your child's life today.
